Slap Dragon is the brainchild of bassist Scott Mulvahill and vocalist Laura Berens, who met and began writing songs together in Nashville. Soulful vocals and acoustic instruments, played by some of Nashville's top session musicians combine for a fresh, funky, irresistibly joyful sound that is equal parts bluegrass, disco, and R&B. As the duo puts it, their mission is to "bring funk to people who don’t funk and bluegrass to people who don’t bluegrass." Slap Dragon’s rise has been entirely organic. Driven by word-of-mouth and a magnetic social media presence (growing to 67k+ followers in under a year), the band has cultivated a dedicated community.
